When you log in to your wallet, you can use multiple devices — like your phone, tablet, or even a second phone. However, for security and simplicity, we designate one of your devices as your Primary Device.
What Is a Primary Device?
A Primary Device is the main device that has enhanced access and permissions, including:
Securely storing a part of your wallet’s encryption key (in your device’s Secure Enclave or KeyStore).
The only device allowed to change your wallet passcode (PIN).
How Do I Choose My Primary Device?
When you log in on a new device, you’ll be asked:
“Do you want to make this your Primary Device?"
- You can accept or skip this step.
If accepted:
This new device becomes your Primary Device.
Your old Primary Device is deactivated.
Set Primary Device from Settings
You can also promote your current device to Primary later on via:
Settings → Security → Primary device.
To complete this action:
You’ll be asked to enter your Juicebox PIN (used to protect one part of your encryption key).
Once verified, your device will securely store a new device key share.
It will become your new Primary Device.
This is useful if:
You skipped making a device primary during login.
You lost your previous primary device.
You just prefer using a new device as your main one.
Can I Have Multiple Primary Devices?
No — for your security, only one device can be Primary at a time.
